Billy Lee Sorenson, 82, of Olathe, KS (formerly of Muscatine, IA) passed away on July 8, 2021 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

He was born on April 15, 1939 to George and Mildred (Johnson) Sorenson in Calhoun County, IA.

On July 10, 1966 he married Janyce Mae Anderson and they made their home in Muscatine, IA and later in Hollister, MO. Bill worked as an engineer for Bandag, Inc. for 27 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and he enjoyed traveling in his and Jan's motorhome, spending the winters in Arizona, and watching the grandkids in music, sports and activities.

In April 2013, Bill received a lung transplant at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. That gift of life gave him 8 wonderful (bonus) years!

Bill is survived by his loving wife Jan, daughter Sherry Scheller (Mike) of Glen Ellyn, IL, son Alan (Shawna) of Overland Park, KS, son Brian (Devra) of Seattle, WA, grandchildren Andrew and Amanda Scheller and Kaden and Parker Sorenson, brothers Gene and Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm on August 15, 2021 at Colonial Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, KS. Memorials can be sent to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Cleveland Clinic Lung Transplant Program.
