In Memory Of
Doris L. Moore
1933 - 2021

Doris L. Moore went to be with God and her wonderful husband of 58 years on May 28, 2021. She was born June 16, 1933 in Guatemala City to Adelina Marquez and Virgilio Lara. Doris lost her precious mother to cancer at just two years of age. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mario, Martha, Augusto, Dina, Letty and Adolfo. Doris came to the United States on her own at the age of 12 and quickly learned English, while being raised by her Aunt Flora and adoring sister Letty.

She graduated from Commerce High School in San Francisco, then worked as a Financial Secretary and Spanish tutor. Ultimately, her biggest joy was becoming a stay-at-home mother to five active girls.

She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, singing, volleyball, ping pong, and time with her family, while being actively involved in the PTA, Welcome Wagon, Gourmet Club and Bridge Club. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a Grand Master Bridge Player!

She is survived by her five loving daughters, Martha Baker of PA, Barbara Gresh (Michael) of OK, Maria Mischler (Mark) of PA, Peggie Thompson (Brent) of KS, Paula Shanahan of MO, eleven adoring grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and Pajarito the parakeet.

Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5th at the Olathe Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, KCMO 64145.
