William Henry "Bill" Westfall
1933 - 2021

William Henry Westfall, 88, passed away at Villa St Francis in Olathe, Kansas on his birthday Sunday, April 25th, 2021. His remains will be interred at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Bill was born April 25, 1933 in Centrahoma, Oklahoma. He was the youngest son of James Monroe Westfall [1889-1934] & Leoma (Lafever) Westfall [1906-1988]. He grew up in Oklahoma, Phoenix, Arizona & the San Francisco Bay Area of California with his brothers and sisters: Mary Rachel Westfall [1922-1957], James Leo Westfall [1923-2012], Sarah Lorraine (Westfall) Roberts [1926-2014], & Roy Eugene Westfall [1928 – 2018]. All have now passed.

Bill served in the Army and was wounded in Korea. He married Marie Sims in 1955. They lived in Oakland, California and had two children; Janet Lynn & Richard Eugene. Bill worked in metal plating & upholstery in the Bay Area of California until the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1961 to live near his wife’s parents Daniel & Carrie (Pharris) Sims. He then began a long career as a carpenter/builder. In 1964 the family moved to Corona, California & Bill continued to build homes all throughout California for over 30 years.

Bill has also lived in North Pole, Alaska & Edwards, Missouri. He enjoyed living in the woods of Alaska & equally loved living on the water at the Lake of the Ozarks before moving to the Overland Park, Kansas area. One special joy of living in Overland Park for him was a weekly visit for movies & beers with his oldest granddaughter Jess.

Bill was lovingly known as Opa by his 4 granddaughters & 6 (almost 7) great grandchildren. Opa is survived by his daughter Janet (Ron) Blodgett & son Richard (Susi) Westfall both of Overland Park, Kansas. His 4 granddaughters Jessica (Matt) Moore of Peculiar, Missouri; Charlene (Chris) Loar of Belton, Missouri; Lindsey (Jeremy) Mack of Independence, Missouri and Monica Blodgett of Overland Park, Kansas. He is also survived by his two great grandsons & 4 almost 5 great-granddaughters.

We will all greatly miss our dear Opa and will forever cherish the multitude of happy memories of him.
