Jimmie Joe Kelso, 81, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at Saint Joseph medical center in Kansas City.

Jimmie was born June 10, 1939 in Martin, Tennessee to Charles and Eddie Earnesteen Kelso. Jimmie was only three years old when his father passed, and 10 years old when his mother passed. So he begin working in the fields picking cotton at the tender age of three. He worked many jobs while attending school at Weekly County. After graduating high school from Weekly County he attended college in Nashville at Tennessee State University where he majored in biology. After graduating from college in 1964 he enlisted in the Air Force and served stateside during the Vietnam war. The Air Force led him to Topeka Kansas where he met his wife Mary Lou. Jim and ,Mary got married March 25, 1967. They would later welcome their daughter Jada, on October 29, 1967. After leaving the Air Force in 1968 he was able to attend The University of Kansas where he pursued advanced degrees and later taught in the medical field at the University of Kansas. Jim and Mary welcomed their son Jerrèll on April 14, 1969. It was in that same year that Jim began practicing anesthesia and working in various hospitals in the Kansas City area such as Bethany medical Center, Saint Joseph Medical Center, and KU Medical Center.

He retired in 2010 and later cared for his wife Mary when she developed dementia. She preceded him in death as she passed away Sunday, September 18, 2018.
