In Memory Of
Sharon R. Clark
1945 - 2021

Sharon R. Clark, 75, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on March 24, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 5, 1945 to Shirley and Floyd Mawhiney at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Sharon grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Turner High School in 1963. She enjoyed playing the clarinet and volleyball. After graduation she began working at the JC Penney department store in Mission, KS. It was there she met her husband of 49 years.

On January 8, 1965, she married Francis “Frank” J. Clark. He was the love of her life and together they had a full house filled with four daughters and two sons. Sharon loved being a wife and mother, but being a grandmother was her favorite role! She was always full of love, laughter, and spunk and had a way of making everyone around her feel special. Sharon loved spending time with her family. She was a passionate baker, an outstanding cook, a lover of animals, an antique enthusiast, and a volunteer at the breast cancer resource center in Olathe.

The Clarks were long-time parishioners of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. They owned Clark’s Fabrics, where Sharon made clothing for display and specialized in the bridal boutique. She also enjoyed serving as an ambassador at the Olathe Chamber of Commerce. Sharon held many careers throughout her lifetime, but she was most proud of her Olathe antique store, Fleur de Flea. In the early 1980s she established Monkey Business, a balloon bouquet service. She enjoyed making deliveries in her iconic monkey suit. Over the years she enjoyed selling Mary Kay Cosmetics, Longaberger Baskets, and Pampered Chef. Sharon also enjoyed working with children in many capacities, including the Olathe School District, Johnson County Adolescent Center for Treatment, nannying, and serving as a childcare provider in several area churches. She also provided care for several grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her sister Lana (Ron) Weiterman; children Gina (Clark) Sehon, Francis John “Buddy” Clark, Jr. (Debbie), Matthew Clark, Bridget Clark (Elizabeth), son-in-law Mark Given, daughter-in-law Shelby Clark; twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Kenneth Mawhiney, daughters Patricia Given and Stephany Clark-Wagner, and grandson John Paul Sehon.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 29, 2021, 5:00pm-7:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel, Olathe, KS. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, 2:00pm at the Church of the Ascension, Overland Park, KS, with burial following in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
