Gilbert LeRoy Mowers, 90, of De Soto, KS passed away on February 12, 2021 at Olathe Medical Center.

He was born on December 19, 1930 to Roy and Beulah (Wright) Mowers at Richland County, OH.

Gilbert pastored with the Church of the Nazarene for over 20 years and then after moving to Kansas City was employed by Dodson Insurance.

On May 7, 1949, he married Luanne Grutt, and she preceded him in death in 2006. He was then joined in marriage to Betty Jean Huff in 2008 and they made their home in De Soto, Kansas.

He was a member of the College Church of the Nazarene, and he enjoyed his family, traveling throughout the United States, reading and watching “old” westerns.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jean, daughters Deborah Childress, and Kristina Cooper, and his son, Daniel Mowers, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, his sisters Reita Johnson and Margaret Oliver. He was also preceded in death by his brother Albert Amsbaugh and grandson Scott Childress.

No services will be held at this time.

Burial will take place in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley, KS .
