Steven Randal Zehr
1956 - 2021

Steven Randal Zehr, age 64 of Linn Valley, KS passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Olathe Hospice House due to complications from COVID-19.
Steve was born to Amy (Gramm) Zehr and D. Duane Zehr on June 23, 1956 in Peoria, IL. Steve spent his childhood in various cities in Illinois and graduated High School from Leroy, IL. Steve graduated from Parkland College in Champaign, IL. In 1983 Steve moved to the Kansas City area with a job transfer with Commodity News which later was named Knight Ridder where he worked for a total of 17 years. While settling in with the job transfer, he met the love of his life, Linda (Moyer) Zehr who he married and became at Stepfather to Curtis Lahmeyer on July, 4, 1984. Linda and Steve lived in Gardner, KS till 1986 when they moved to the Hillsdale Lake area. In 1988 Steve and Linda were blessed with their daughter Jessica. Steve worked for Farmland for a few years, but most recently worked for HR Block Tech Repair Center until June 2019.
Steve was known for his quick sarcastic comments that made his family and friends laugh. He loved to camp and spending time outdoors. In fact, Steve enjoyed lake life so much he and Linda spent many summers living in their fifth wheel and helping manage the Beach House at Hillsdale Lake before settling their fifth wheel at Linn Valley Lakes. Most can say their best memories of Steve were made by visits to camp or at a lake get together. Steve cherished his family and friends and was often heard telling stories on or about his loved ones. For the past 22 years Steve loved being “Papa Steve” to his eight grandchildren who loved him and will miss him greatly. Steve never missed a birthday party, program, concert, or sporting event that one of his grandkids were in if he could help it. You will hear his family joke that if one of the grandkids asked Papa to do something, he would go along with it if he was able.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; daughter, Jessica (Zehr) Krievins (Andrew) of Gardner, KS; step-son, Curtis Lahmeyer (Carrie) of Olathe, KS; mother, Amy Zehr of Leroy, IL; brother, Alan Zehr (Deanna) of Urbana, IL; sister, Nancy Peavler of Stuart, FL; sister, Betty Poshard of Bloomington, IL; sister, Sandy Zehr (Jeff) of San Tan Valley, AR. Then you have Steve’s pride and joys of grandchildren, Allysen, Emma, Carter, Delanie Lahmeyer all of the home in Olathe, KS as well as the ones that kept Grandpa going Lily, Caty, Izzy and AJ Krievins all of the home in Gardner, KS. Steve also was blessed to have several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in his life.
Preceding Steve in death is his father, Duane Zehr.
The family will have a small private Memorial at this time due to Covid restrictions and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent directly to Olathe Hospice House or Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Steve. Other correspondence can be sent to Steve’s wife, Linda Zehr, at 139 Kane St. Gardner, KS 66030.
