Joyce E. Doyen
1958 - 2020

Joyce E. (White) Doyen, 62, of Olathe, KS, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Joyce was born July 12, 1958 in New Hartford, New York to Robert and Margaret White. As a child growing up in Whitesboro, New York, Joyce enjoyed horseback riding, ice skating, and skiing. She fondly remembered picking apples, raising chickens, and caring for kittens. Her family moved to Belton, MO in 1970.

She graduated from Belton High School in 1977. After attending Longview Community College, she attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO and received her certification as a paralegal. She married Timothy L. Doyen on March 17, 1979. They started a family in Belton, MO and after a few moves, they made their home in Olathe, KS. Joyce was a housewife and also taught at Aldersgate Preschool.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, never missing a performance, and always proud and supportive. She enjoyed reading, baking, and cross stitch.

After a devastating stroke in August of 2014, Joyce was paralyzed on her right side. She was confined to a wheelchair, but that didn’t stop her from doing fun art projects with her grandkids as they sat in her lap. She was diagnosed with liver failure during a hospital stay in October 2020.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Timothy L. Doyen and her father Robert L. White.

Joyce is survived by her daughters; Amy Holiway (Shane), Sheri Greene (Justin), Ashley Bearkheimer (Drew), and Sally Pirie (Nathan) and grandchildren Peyton, Mackenna, Alaina, Cyrus, Corbin, Tess, and Jolene. As well as her mother Margaret White and siblings Jan Owens (Dennis), Nancy Callahan (Greg), and Russ White (Michelle) and many nieces and nephews.
