Clayton E Woody
1949 - 2020

Clayton Eugene Woody, 70, of Linwood, KS, passed away on October 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on October 28, 1949 to Harold and Nadine (Gorham) Woody in Kansas City, MO.
Clayton worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for McAnany Construction Company from 1969 until he retired in 2011.

In his early life his passions were horse shows, rodeo and steer wrestling “bulldogging”. Clayton did local rodeos with his beloved horse, Jeep, and traveled the circuit in the 1970’s. He loved anything outdoors, including hunting, fishing, gardening and trail rides. He was known for being a big prankster with his buddies and family on these trips.

After meeting the love of his life, Sharon, they enjoyed traveling to casinos locally and afar, the Chili Bowl, Lucas Oil Speedway races and watching NASCAR. Clayton even managed to set up his own body shop right in his back yard and enjoyed teaching Sharon how to turn a wrench. After Sharon passed in 2015, he purchased a 1937 rat rod and won a few trophies at local car shows. He painted and named his rat rod “Sharon’s Garage” in memory of his “buddy”.

Gathering at the farm with family and friends meant the world to him. Even through the hard times in the past few months, his bright side and sense of humor never left him and he continued to embrace life with a smile. His absence leaves a void in so many hearts.

Clayton is survived by his brother Merle Woody, daughters April Feris (Danny), Ava Stults (Steve Mitchell), Michelle Packard, son Danny Stults (Jacque) and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews including greats.

Clayton is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sharon Kay Woody.

A celebration of life is planned for October 24, 2020 at the Woody farm from 2-5 p.m.
