Edward (Ed) Wallace Johnson departed from this world on September 27, 2020 at the age of 93. Ed was born on March 20, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas, the fourth son of Charles W. and L. Pearl Johnson. He attended Wyandotte High School, graduating in 1945. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 1944, called to active duty in February, 1945, and was in training for the invasion of Japan when the war ended in August, 1945. From September, 1945 to September, 1946 he served in the Pacific and Tsingtao, China. He was discharged in October, 1946.

In the fall of 1944, Ed met the love of his life, Betty Jean Young of Howard County, Missouri and they married on May 14, 1945. They celebrated their 75th anniversary May 14, 2020 and were devoted to each other and their family to the end.

From November, 1946 to November, 1986, Ed was employed by Owens Corning Fiberglas in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a lifetime member of The Scottish Rite, Wyandotte Masonic Lodge and a former member of Leawood Lions Club.

Ed is survived by his wife Betty, sons Richard, Douglas (Kathryn Sikkink), daughter Kathy Hover (Jim), son Edward Jr. (Tracy). Also he leaves six grandchildren: David Hover (Sonali Saluja), Kimberly Hover, Daniel (Rebecca) Eldridge, Matthew Sikkink Johnson, Tyler and Trevor Johnson; and a great granddaughter, Anika Salover. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Pearl Johnson, sister Drusella Harmon, brothers Charles, Richard, Kenneth, Oliver, and Lester.

The family will have a celebration of life at some time. No donations please.
