Edward G. Cantrell D.D.S.

Dr. Edward G. Cantell, 59, of Olathe passed away on July 8, 2020 at KU Medical center. He was born on November 9, 1960 to Dale and Wanda Cantrell in Kansas City, Kansas.

Edd is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Cantrell and his loving daughter Erin Cantrell, his father, Dale Cantrell, his brother William Cantrell, his sister Ellen Cantrell Richards, his nephews Brett (Natalie) Cantrell, Ryan Cantrell, Al Richards, his niece Riley Richards, and his great nieces Adelaide Cantrell and Theadora Cantrell. He is preceded in death by his mother Wanda Cantrell and his dear son Evan Cantrell.

Edd grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. He played sports in middle school and high school where he also was a yell leader and became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1979. After graduating from high school, Edd attended Kansas State University and earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. In the following years Edd briefly worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Children’s Mercy Hospital prior to attending UMKC School of Dentistry where he obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1989.

Edd had a dental practice in Spring Hill and Olathe for many years. He retired from his private practice and began working full time at UMKC School of Dentistry as an Associate Professor. Edward loved teaching and loved working with his colleagues. The best and brightest part of his day was mentoring his students for a future in Dentistry.

Edd always had a smile on his face and his kindness and love were as big as that smile. He had so many friends from all walks of life and touched many lives during his time here.
