Agustin "Auggie" Alejos
1951 - 2020

Agustin “Auggie” Alejos was born May 28, 1951 in Topeka, KS to Sergio and Felicitas Alejos. He was the youngest out of 12 siblings. Auggie resided in Topeka for most of his life. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1969 and went on to have a fulfilling career in both automotive and retail sales.

Auggie grew up across the street from Elizabeth “Lee” Barraclough, the two were reintroduced while working at Dillard’s and married in 1988. They moved to Florida in 1990 and returned to the Kansas City area in 1997, settling in Olathe and at time of death, Overland Park. Auggie’s proudest accomplishment in life was being the father of Jennifer (49) and Joshua (30). He was a dedicated and selfless husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. Auggie enjoyed spending quality time with his family, being outside, and cooking on the grill. He will forever be remembered for his contagious smile, hearty laugh, and love of life.

Auggie was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Pat Thompson and Manual Alejos, his daughter Barbara Alejos, his granddaughter Aspen Bailey, his step-son Stephen Bailey, and brother and sister-in-laws Bob Thompson, Robert Decker, Helen Alejos, and Raul Barrientos.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Lee Alejos; his daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Tom Weir; his son and daughter-in-law Joshua and Andrea Alejos; his brother and sister-in-law Luis and Charlotte Alejos; his sister and brother-in-law Rosario and Freddy Fontaine; his sister Annie Decker; his brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Candy Alejos; his brother and sister-in-law Henry and Jolly Alejos; his brother Philip Alejos, his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Maxine Alejos; his brother Leo Alejos; his sister Mary Barrientos; his grandson and spouse Alex Weir and Karen Hill; his grandson Derek Weir; his granddaughter Beth Metzger; his great grandchildren Ben and Sydney Weir; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of Auggie’s life will be held at a later date. He will be greatly loved and missed by family and friends.
