1957 - 2020

Albert "Jay" Darr, 63, of Olathe, passed away on June 11, 2020. He was born on January 26, 1957 to Darel and Sandra (Sonricker) Darr in Wood River, IL, where he lived until the age of 5, before moving to Olathe.

He grew up in Olathe. Went to school here and graduated from Olathe North. He worked at JC Penney from 1977 to 1996. From there he worked at the Olathe School District Food Distribution warehouse until January 2019. He was a supervisor, making sure all the children were fed. On April 19, 1980, Jay married Kathleen Bartling. Jay's hobby was hunting. He loved to hunt, always waiting for the next season to come, whether ducks, pheasant, turkey or deer. His bucket list hunt was to go to Africa, which he did in 2008. He was proud of his trophies.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; his brother, Jeff; two nephews, Jason and Kevin; niece, Katy; and two great nephews, Fisher and Finley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darel; mother, Sandra; and his older brother, Nicklas.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel with the funeral service following at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either the ASPCA or to a no kill animal shelter of your choice.
