Larry Art Lawrence passed away June 8, 2020 at the age of 82 at the Olathe Hospice House. Family and friends may pay their respects at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Blackbob Road, Olathe, KS, on Thursday, June 11, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Please respect social distancing and other precautions. A private family mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, Gardner, KS, with burial immediately following at The Olathe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s memory may be directed to The Olathe Hospice House, 15310 South Marion Street, Olathe, KS, 66061.

Larry was born on May 27, 1938, in Olathe, KS.

He was the oldest son of Art and Lois Lawrence. He graduated from Rosedale High School, Kansas City, KS class of 1956. He attended Kansas University and graduated from Washburn University, in Topeka, KS.

He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of the Mick-O-Say and he served in the US Navy.

He married the love of his life Barbara (Billings) Lawrence on November 8, 1957. They celebrated 62&1/2 years of marriage. They have three children: Bob (Lynne) Lawrence, Susan Fleenor and Janet Pamasa, eight grandchildren that loved their “Bompa”: Nicole (Cory) Morton, Michael Fleenor, Mallory (Sam) Ellis, Tanner Lawrence, Liliana Pamasa, Aidan Pamasa, Nicole (Jim) Schlagel, Taylor (Chrissy) Pye, and two great-grand children: Evie and Cora Schlagel, and two loving cats Missy and Mulligan.

Larry was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish. He served as a Eucharistic minister and usher. He also worked to raise funds for the Christian Formation Center. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

He worked for Safeway Stores for many years and retired from Fleming Foods as Director of Site Analysis in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Lois Lawrence, and brother Lowell “Goggie” Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Billings) Lawrence, his children; Bob Lawrence, Susan Fleenor, and Janet Pamasa, eight grand children and 2 great-grand children.

He was a loving husband, father, "Bompa", and friend to all. He never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone, anytime. He loved and cherished his family, enjoying every minute possible with them.
