David Perry Genter, 75, of Lenexa, KS passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020 during his brief stay at the Good Samaritan nursing home of Olathe.

He was born on July 22, 1944 to Harry and Jean (McArdle) Genter in Santa Monica, CA. He was the 4th of 7 children.

On May 22, 1965 he married the true love of his life, Susan Frances (Blake) Genter. David and Susan were married 55 years and resided in Lenexa, KS at the time of his passing. David and Susan along with their 3 children were native Californians who traveled the world during David’s time with United States Air Force.

David retired from active duty with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant after more than 20 years of dedicated service, including serving a tour in Vietnam from 66-67. David also earned both his Bachelor’s and two Master’s Degrees during his tenure with USAF. He went on to have a successful 2nd career with the Federal Aviation Administration before ultimately retiring.

David was a proud Irish American who celebrated his heritage and encouraged his family to do the same. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, his beloved sons Timothy and Scott and daughter Jennifer, his daughters in law Michelle and Dacia and his treasured grandsons Cameron, Collin and Aiden. Additional family members include his sister Jane McAdam, his niece Katie McAdam and brother in law George Blake. David’s family was a great source of pride and enduring love throughout his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 4 brothers.

A private memorial service will be held at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Olathe, KS.
