James B. Schwegman, 71, of Olathe, KS passed Jan. 11, 2020.

James was born October 10, 1948 in Richmond, KS to Albert and Viola Schwegman. He graduated from Central Hieghts High School in 1967 later that year he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1975. He then enrolled in college at Wichita State University and graduated with a Criminal Justice degree in 1980. He then went to work for the Johnson County Sheriffs Office eventually rising to Captain before his retirement in June 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents and later his first wife Erin Schwegman in 1974 and his second wife Linda Schwegman in 2003. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Diane Ellison in 2007 and Jeanett Aguirre in 2009 and by his brother in law Donald Wolken in 2019 and his niece Jeanni Aguirre in 1979.

He is survived by his fiancé Cynthia Graves of the home and his four sons; Jason Schwegman of Shawnee, KS and wife Sue, Ryan Schwegman of Sacramento, CA and wife Conchy, Adam Schwegman of Topeka, KS and Jeremy Schwegman of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by his grandchildren Skyler, Jazlynn, Shelby, Cameron, Sebastian Schwegman, and Ella and Hailey Conely. As well as his siblings Terry Schwegman, Linda Wolken, Sheila Kraus, and Ben Schwegman.

He loved his grandkids more than anything and always looked forward to seeing them. He also loved to watch the Royals and the Chiefs, he wasn’t much for playing sports in in his mid-life but did enjoy sitting outside and soaking in the weather. He tried to attend as many of the grandkids events that he could even with he wasn’t at 100%.
