Dorothy Ellen Rice, 85, of Overland Park, arrived at her heavenly home on January 12, 2020 at Colonial Village.

She was born on June 19, 1934 to George and Ruth (Pippen) Milam in Kansas City, KS.

Dorothy worked as a teacher for Joplin, MO and Shawnee Mission, KS School Districts, until she and her husband adopted two children. She then fulfilled her dream of becoming a stay-at-home mother.

On August 7, 1955, she married Ronald Dean Rice. Dorothy and Ronald lived in Overland Park, Kansas. They were married for 64 years, continuing to hold hands at 85 and 87 years old.

She was a member of Lenexa Baptist Church and enjoyed Bible study, taking road trips to see new parts of the country, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Ron, Son, Keith Rice, Daughter Lynn Walser, and their spouses and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 4PM at College Church of the Nazarene in Garrett Chapel with visitation to follow from 5-6PM.

Dorothy will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
