Kathryn (Kathy) was born September 12, 1945 in Fort Dodge, IA to Maurice and Cecilia (Weiss) Mitchell. She graduated Ft. Dodge High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education. She taught elementary school in the North Kansas City School district when she met and married John Bradley Douglass in 1975. Kathy enjoyed catching up with friends and long phone conversations with her sister, Ellen. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, John Douglass, her sister Ellen Derscheid, and brother William Mitchell.
She is survived by her children; John Mitchell Douglass (Jessica) of Crofton, MD, Ryan Douglass (Amy) of Arlington, VA, and Megan Bubb (Jeff), of Olathe, KS. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Kaputska and Joann Mitchell both of Fort Dodge, IA. As well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends.
