James Hubert Hogan, 84, formerly of Topeka, KS, passed away on December 1, 2019 at Glenwood Village in Overland Park, KS.

He was born on October 15, 1935 to Hubert and Annabelle (Barnaby) Hogan in Independence, KS. Jim grew up in Longton, KS and Chanute, KS before moving to Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1956 and then worked as a machinist, and later as a scale inspector, for the Santa Fe Railway until his retirement in 1990.

On August 3, 1958, he married Charlene Elliott. They made their home in Topeka, KS and were long-time members of New Hope United Methodist Church in Topeka. He enjoyed bowling, making stained glass windows for friends and family, and playing Texas Holdem with his buddies at the Treasure Lakes Resort in Branson, MO. Jim and Charlene traveled to Ireland and Italy, cruised to many destinations, rooted for the K-State Wildcats, and attended most of their grandchildren’s games and performances throughout the years.

Surviving family includes his daughter Denise Jones (Tim), and son Brian Hogan (Cathy), grandchildren Lindsey Pryor (Will), Kevin Jones (Bridget Steichen), Cole Hogan, Tiffanie Hild (Josh), Tia Qureshi (Oz), and great-grandchildren Lincoln, Jones, Maris, McCartney, Maddux, Alexis, Addiyah, and Adonis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene, on September 20, 2019, his parents, and all his siblings.

A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel, 14275 S Black Bob Rd, Olathe, KS. His service will begin at 10:00 a.m at the Chapel followed by his interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 6th and Gage, in Topeka, KS at noon.
