In Memory Of
Carl Kenneth "Ken" Carpenter
1933 - 2019
Elbridge, NY was Ken’s home through his high school years where he was active in sports, which he continued through his college years. He graduated from Hobart College, Geneva, NY in 1955, and after graduation entered the Air Force as a 2nd Lt. Following his pilot training in Texas, perhaps fate intervened for the upstate NY young man by stationing him at Whiteman AFB, (20 miles from Sedalia, MO) where he would meet Jane Hurley of Sedalia. But future plans were put on hold, as in 1959 Ken received orders for Sondrestrom, Greenland, for one year. Plans remained on hold until early 1960, when Ken received his discharge and returned home where he and Jane continued with wedding plans.
Their marriage was blessed with the arrival of two daughters, Anne Brock, and two years later, Michele Marie, both of whom added great joy to his life. Ken became active with their school sports and other activities including one year as an assistant coach of the girls’ championship softball team which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Becoming a grandfather brought additional happiness to Ken’s life, with the arrival of our grandsons Brock and Blake Scoville and watching them develop into fine young men.
Following his discharge from the Air Force, Ken remained in the active Air Force Reserve for several years. He then made his career as a successful Pharmaceutical Representative for over 25 years. After retirement Ken and Jane traveled extensively both domestically and internationally, introducing them to many new areas and allowing them to meet numerous interesting people and create beautiful memories.
Ken’s legacies are his love of God, devotion to family, and honor for his country. He always treasured the many friendships he made in his lifetime.
