Myrtle Dyer, 93, of Olathe, Kansas passed Monday November 18, 2019.


Visitation will be 6:30PM-8:30PM on Friday November 22 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel. The Rosary will be said at 6PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM Saturday at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wea, KS with burial following in Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.

She was born at home on October 6th, 1926 in Newark New Jersey to Nicholas and Madeleine Monedas and was the oldest of their three girls. When Myrtle attended Elementary School she spoke only French. She not only mastered learning English but gained a life long love of reading.

Myrtle and her family moved to Rhode Island her senior year. Though this was a hard move for her, she made many good friends. Her sense of humor and love for life brought her many close friends. She loved the beach, dancing and attending social events. She attended business school and worked for the the federal government for many years with the exception of the years she was raising her daughter.

In 1966, she married Gordon Dyer, and many years later divorced. During their marriage they moved to Oregon and had their daughter Madeleine. They then moved to the Kansas City area where Myrtle lived the rest of her life. Her leisure-time was spent reading, spending time with friends, and watching her grandchildren. She attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Myrtle was a devout Catholic and always trusted in the goodness of God and the power of Prayer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Helen and Mary.

She is survived by her daughter Madeline and husband Chris of Olathe Kansas, her three granddaughters and two great grandchildren, Kelsey Moore and husband Eric, and their daughters Lydia and Ariella, Katherine Thies and Kayla Thies.
