Lynda Clarice Allenbrand, 71, of Olathe, passed away on May 31, 2019. She was born on November 6, 1947 to Robert and Cleo (Bowling) Enright in Gardner, KS. Lynda grew up in Olathe, Kansas. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1965. She married Jack Messer, had three children (Melissa, Melynda and Carl), married Dan Donahue, and had two children (Dani and Ben) before she married the love of her life, Smithy Allenbrand. She gained two boys through that marriage (Dallas and Benny) and have been together for 30 years. She worked for Burns Printing, the Instructional Media Center in the Olathe School District and the Johnson County Crime Lab. She retired from the Crime Lab in 2010. She loved spending time with her family and cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. She enjoyed being at the lake (creating her fairy garden), antique shopping and playing Bridge. She loved organizing and was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she worked hard to support veterans. Lynda was a lifelong Olathean. She supported all things Olathe: Old Settlers, the Olathe Alumni Association and the Olathe Wall of Honor. Lynda touched so many lives with her smile and passionate spirit.
Lynda is survived by her loving husband, Smithy, her children; Dallas (Dee), Benny (Sherri), Melissa (Al), Melynda, Carl, Dani (Molly) and Ben (Stacy), 14 grandchildren; Israel, Tiffany, Mikkel, Bret, Conner, Cole, Catherine, Cooper, Vance, Claire, Grace, Avery, Audrey and Carter, 8 great-grandchildren; Ilijah, Kelvin, Ava, Mason, Charli, DrayVicc, Hunter and Paisley and her sister Casey.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleo, father, Robert, and her brother, Patrick.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Monday, June 10, 2019, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Penwell Gabel’s Olathe chapel with the memorial service following at 3:00 pm. A celebration of life will follow the memorial service at the American Legion, 410 E Dennis Ave, Olathe, KS 66061.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Olathe Alumni Association Scholarship, care of the Olathe Public Schools Foundation online at www.olathepublicschoolsfoundation.org or by check to O.P.S.F., 300 E.
